This quote from Ms. Barker's story says it all:
"When I told some of my friends back home I was going to Afghanistan, one was like, 'We're still over there? We have troops over there?' " said Sgt. Michael Kennicker, 25, of Greenwood, Neb. "To me, it is forgotten. It really is."
We currently have over 16000 troups in Afghanistan and while their situation may not be as imminently dangerous as it is for our troups in Iraq, it is still a war zone. Many of these soldiers have also served in Iraq as well as an additional tour in Afghanistan.
This war should not be forgotten. They are still fighting and our men and women are still in danger. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8197613/

Somehow we've got to get them home and end this nightmare- and that's just what I think it is, a never ending nightmare. All because of...
Oh, we're still there? Huh. We've been too busy watching Jacko and Jennifer Wilbanks and Natalee Holloway.
Can somebody tell me why we are fighting the Taliban anyway. Why does the West seem to think it can alter situations a long way away that shouldn`t concern them. The brutality these people inflict on themselves is surely of there own making,if they wish to live a life of oppression and strife why interfere. Not one British or American casualty/death is worth any of this nonsense. When we`ve pulled out and gone home (hopefully some time before world war three starts) the stronger factions will dominate the weak and the whole lot will kick off again. Not all countries exist as western ones do, brutality and dictatorships are a way of life for many.As we`ve witnessed in Iraq messing with that way of life is not the answer to any one problem .
